Rules & Guidelines

Race & Technical Rules
Club races are governed by the rules published by the International Federation of Model Auto Racing and Association of Australia Radio Controlled Model Car Clubs organisations. Please consult these organisations for the most up-to-date rules.

Race Formats
Nitro races and petrol races are run on separate days, on a rotating schedule. Please check the calendar for schedule.

Nitro races (1/10, 1/8) are run with a 5 minute duration, each class grade running three qualifying races and one final race. For example, if you run in 1/10 B class, you may race four races on the day, each with a duration of 5 minutes.

Petrol races (1/5 Touring) are run with a 10 minute duration, each class grade running three qualifying races and one final race. For example, if you run in 1/5 B class, you may race four races on the day, each with a duration of 10 minutes.

Personal Transponders
The club uses a computerised timing and scoring system. Members will need to acquire their own personal transponder if they wish to register so that their race time and scoring is counted, and overall standing recognised. A transponder is not required to race, however timing, scoring and standing is not officially recongised otherwise. The standard personal transponder used is the "AMBrc Personal Transponder". Older models may not be supported. For more information on personal transponders, please email the club president at gardey1@bigpond.com or go to http://www.amb-it.com/ambrc-transponders-c-16_18.html.

Points & Standings
Points are tallied throughout each season to determine standings in each class (first, second, third place). Champions are acknowledged at the end of each season for their standing in each class they race.

  • As a general rule the driver must complete at least half the number of laps of the winner to score points. (This is a bit flexible, for other factors are taken into account in deciding this.)
  • 10 points are awarded for each class you run & are available to race. Default points (10-20) are awarded if no one else is able to run.
  • Points for placings are 10 for a win, 8 for second, 6 for third, 4 for fourth, and 2 for fifth. Double points are awarded for the final.
  • Drivers may be invited to upgrade their class grade by the racing committee (Example: 1/5th B to 1/5th A). If drivers choose to upgrade during a season, the points they accumulated in the previous class grade remain in that class. Drivers will enter the new class grade with a zero points balance. Drivers may opt to remain in their current class (and upgrade grades at the end of the current season) if they wish to continue accumulating points.
  • Points are awarded according to the statistics reported by the computerised racing system. If drivers forget to use their allocated transponder, they cannot be awarded points.
